Orange Skies is in reference to the forest fires we had all over the world from Climate Crisis over the last few years, from California to the Amazon and the skies literally turned orange. It’s saying we’re the problem but also the solution. I immediately knew my brotha Mick Jenkins would understand what needed to be said here, the references to us as a young generation and what climate change really means for our future, that we are our own worst enemies, our own selfishness is killing us and kill this one,with bars like “losing trees we won’t notice until their ain’t no tissue”. bringing some genius metaphors showing the madness that we as humans are making ourselves. We both talk about the injustice of climate change, anti-colonialism, how black and brown people are on the front line. I propa enjoyed writing this hook but all I could see was these eerie Orange Skies we all saw on our feeds or real life. It really felt like the world was ending and this is where this song came from.
